You can't lie still, pretending those are dreams
If it hadn’t been raining I wouldn’t have looked down as I walked to the bus and, if I hadn’t looked down, I wouldn’t have seen this plaque. Robin Hyde lived here, on Northland Road, and left the spot ninety-eight years' back. Twenty-four years, off and on, I’ve been living in Wellington and still, in good ways, I’m discovering its part and remembering that it feels unfamiliar, out-of-the-ordinary, not at all my place.
